Push, Snap & Fill: Learn How to Play Color Filler

In this puzzle game, everything is out of place! Color Filler is a simple puzzle game where you play as a gray cube whose goal is to move the other colored blocks into their designated spaces. In this guide, we'll show you how to play Color Filler with some tips & tricks to help get you started.

You’ll find the game starts off with one or two colors, but it picks up down the line,  adding in more obstacles for you to navigate. There’s 45 levels of puzzles to figure out, each one more difficult than the last, so be prepared to get in a good mental workout!

How to Play Color Filler

This game doesn’t have a lot of overly complicated movements. Simply use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate the platform and push the blocks. Each block will fit in a corresponding hole of the same color. As you move them around, you’ll have to be creative in your placement to ensure every empty space is filled.

The further you reach in the game, you’ll encounter spaces marked with an ‘X.’ You can move the colored cubes across these tiles, but they will disappear once you move off them, so plan your moves carefully! If you ever make a mistake in your moves, you can always press ‘U’ to undo your last three moves.

Light gray cubes will appear on some levels. These pesky cubes will not add to your final score, but they will serve as obstacles for your cubes to move around. As soon as you can, see if you can figure out the purpose of the gray cube. Either use it to push another block, or move it out of the way into its own space.

Tips & Tricks To Win

Before moving on to the actual game, let’s go over some tips to help you tackle each puzzle with ease.

Evaluate the Area

As with many puzzle games, you should start off each level by taking a quick look around. Take note of any X-marked tiles or empty spaces blocking off one of your goals. Checking out the color goals before moving is a good way to plan which color would be easiest to fill in first.

Path Planning Perfection

Once you’ve evaluated the playing field, you can start to visualize the path your cube needs to take to complete the level. Make sure to move very carefully, one space at a time, and take some time to think with each move. You have the option to undo a move, which gives you room for error. However, you only have a limited number of redos per level, so don’t move too fast!

Bottom to Top

If you encounter a level where the colored spaces are lined up one after the other, it can be tricky to set up the color pieces in the correct order. In these cases, it’s best to start lining up the colors from bottom to top. That way, you can push them all in one line, snapping them into place as you go.
