To start a new game, choose one of three difficulties: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert.
The grid is hiding lots of explosive mines. Your goal is to uncover all squares that don’t have mines under them.
Tap any square to start – better hope it’s not a mine! If it isn’t, then a chunk of the board will clear out. Blank squares are good because you won’t have to worry about them anymore. The other squares will have numbers on them. The number on each square represents how many mines are touching that square (including diagonals).
If you think a mine is hidden under a square, tap it. If you're not sure, long press it to mark it with a flag (long press on a flag to remove it). You’re given a limited number of flags. The number of flags you have is determined by the difficulty. The number of flags available is at the top left of the screen. Flags aren’t required to win the game, but they are a helpful tool!
Once you uncover all safe squares without tapping on a single mine, the game ends! But don’t stop there – every time you start the game, you’ll get a completely different mine pattern.
