5 Arcade Games Similar to Atari Pong

Pong is a landmark as far as gaming goes. Pong is a classic arcade game created by Atari. Players must try and hit a ball past their opponent using the paddle they are given. While it is a simple concept, the game is extremely fun to play.

From a historical standpoint, Atari Pong is one of the most successful video games of all time. When Pong was first released in the 1970s, people just couldn’t get enough of this fun and stimulating game. The skill game had countless people coming to arcades and dropping their quarters in the Atari Pong machine.

If you have played Atari Pong before, you know that while it is fun, there isn't a lot of variety in it. Not to worry though, there are plenty of other titles at Coolmath Games that scratch the same itch, but spice the game up a little bit with more variety. Read on to learn more.

Retro Ping Pong

We had to put Retro Ping Pong at the top of this list. It is one of the Pong games that is closest to the original. Retro Ping Pong has two options that you can choose from – classic and action.

The classic mode is pretty much an exact replica of Atari Pong. Two players are squaring off against each other, both trying to hit the ball with their paddle in an attempt to score a goal against their opponent. You can choose between single-player and two-player mode.

The action mode of Retro Ping Pong is where things get a little bit more interesting. Action mode includes custom game rules that add in totally new elements into the gameplay. There are tons of different levels that players must go through. Whether it is playing with larger balls and smaller paddles, trying to avoid hitting a cat in the middle of the court or using blasters to shoot at your opponent, you are sure to have a great time with these interesting game types.

Astroballz

Atari Pong Games Astroballz

In Astroballz, players are still taking on their enemy by hitting a ball with a paddle. Unlike Atari Pong though, players are hitting planets with balls in order to win. Just make sure not to let the ball get past you, or else you will lose out on some serious points.

This game is actually more similar to another classic Atari game, Atari Breakout. While the concept is still relatively simple, we here at Coolmath Games think that Astroballz is one of the most fun games on the entire site.

Shards

Atari Pong Game Shards

Similar to Astroballz, players must destroy targets by hitting them with a ball using their paddles in Shards. Once players are able to shatter the glass targets, they are given power-ups that can either help them or hurt them. Just make sure to turn the glass into shards quickly or else you won’t get 3 stars!

One Ping No Pong

Just like in Atari Pong, players will need to use their reactions in order to win in One Ping No Pong. Players have to use the ball to destroy red targets, but they can only hit it off of the wall once. This will prove to be a tricky hurdle in the later levels, so players will have to use strategy and timing in order to get past all 18 levels.

For those of you who enjoy Pong games and sports games, One Ping No Pong is right up your alley. It’s basically like taking shots in golf, except it requires more timing and precision to win.

Redline Pong

There is one goal in Redline Pong – keep the ball up in the air. You must make your way past hordes of orbs raining down upon them. It is your job to destroy them all while making sure that your ball doesn’t get past you. See how high of a score you can get. Ours is right around 100, try and beat that!

At the end of the day, no matter which one of these games you play, you are pretty darn likely to have a great game. So get out there and play one of these Pong games now, or all of them if you want.
