Your goal is to get the worm to the bottom of the screen against the tide of rising letters. To play, click on the letters to create words. Press SPACE to submit the word and the letters you used will disappear. You can deselect a letter by clicking it again, or right click anywhere to deselect the last letter. 

Words must contain 3 or more letters, or they won’t count. Longer words move the tower down further, giving your worm more time to reach the bottom.

If you see you’ve made a spelling mistake, you can deselect a letter by clicking it again, or right click anywhere to deselect the last letter. You can also press ‘Z’ on your keyboard to select a letter for the word and ‘X’ to delete the letter.

Once you have started to submit words, the worm will fall through the gaps towards the bottom. The tower of letters will still be rising upwards. Keep making words to knock the worm down the screen further. 

The game will make things more difficult by moving the letters up faster and faster. Keep going and see if you can make as many words as quickly as you can before you get stuck!

WORD WORM TIPS & TRICKS

Speed is key. The quicker you can spell words, the better chance you have to get the worm to the bottom. But make sure you spell them correctly or they won’t count, and you’ll have wasted precious time! 

Small words save time. Look for smaller, easier words in the mix to get out the way quickly. This will open up initial gaps for your worm to fall into and make its way down. Longer words will push the tower down further, but shorter words are easier to clear. 

Use plurals. Look to see if there’s a letter S available on screen. You can add it to the end of words you have made to make them even longer. It doesn’t always work, but it can  be a quick way to play smarter.

Start now, finish later. If you find yourself missing a letter or two, wait a bit to see if it appears in the next row. If you do this make sure to have the word nearly spelled out first! That way you can add on what letter you need quickly. Be careful though, if you wait too long for that letter you need or you’re not fast enough, the worm will be pushed off top of the game and it’s ‘GAME OVER’.

WHAT YOU LEARN FROM PLAYING WORD WORM

Players will have to tap into their spelling skills in order to clear out as many words as possible in the time given. Strengthening reaction time will also play a role since you have to move quickly to get the worm to the bottom of the screen.
